Firearms Licensing


New Applicants


You must have completed and passed a Massachusetts certified firearms safety course prior to setting up your appointment. At the time of your appointment, you must bring:

  • Completed application
  • Proof of residency (e.g. driver’s license/ID, utility bill, valid vehicle registration etc.)
  • Safety Course Certificate (not required for Active-Duty or Reserves Military)
  • The applicable fee in the form of cash, check or money order made payable to the “City of Westfield”. WE NOW OFFER ONLINE PAYMENTS via UNIPAY by following this link Unipay Payment Portal
  • Fingerprints will be taken at the time of your appointment

LTC/FID Application

Renewals


There is NO APPOINTMENT necessary for renewal applicants.

  • Completed LTC/FID Application including the Affidavit
  • Proof of residency (e.g. driver’s license/ID, utility bill, valid vehicle registration etc.)
  • The applicable fee in the form of cash, check or money order made payable to the “City of Westfield”. WE NOW OFFER ONLINE PAYMENTS via UNIPAY by following this link Unipay Payment Portal
  • Applications may be dropped off in person or mailed to the Westfield Police Department:

  • A receipt will be mailed to you once your application has been processed. This receipt acts as your license until the new card is received.


Apply Online


You may now renew or apply for your firearms license online at the Massachusetts Firearms Record Bureau Portal. Please follow all instructions on the MA Firearms Website for submission of applications online. Any missing information will result in the delayed processing of your FID or LTC.

  • If you are a renewal and did not submit page 4 of the application in the documents section of the MIRCS portal, please send a signed hard copy or email a signed copy to WPD.Records@cityofwestfield.org


Mace

You no longer need to have a permit to carry mace/pepper spray at the age of 18.

 

 

Fees

  • New or renewal LTC age 21-69 = $100.00
  • Renewal LTC age 70+ = No charge
  • New or renewal FID age 18-69 = $100.00
  • Renewal FID age 70+ = No charge
  • New FID or LTC age 70+ = $100.00
  • New FID age 15-17 = $25.00 (Guardian must be at the appointment and a parental consent form must be notarized)

Note: Only checks or money orders are accepted as payment methods and should be made payable to 

 the City of Westfield.
